We hope you enjoy this site and that it brings back many good memories
The Glass Candle was a band that played in various nightclubs in Honolulu, Hawaii in the early 1970's. The band was formed by founder Robert Shinoda in the 60's and played at many high school dances in and around Honolulu. Most notably, we played from midnight till 4:00 AM at Duke Kahanamoku's in Waikiki in the early 70's. We had horns and our original music consisted of songs from bands such as, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power etc. We disbanded in the mid 70's and went on to various endeavors. In recent years Hawaii has experienced a resurgence of interest in reunions of similar bands that played in and around Waikiki at the same time frame we did. These reunions, whose founder is Robin Kimura and his band Greenwood, were initially yearly and consisted of five bands from that era playing for an hour each. They have become increasingly popular in Hawaii and are now held twice a year with attendance in the thousands! We hope you check out our website. It is, of course, always under construction, and please comment or email us! Thanks! Doug Rivera
